The Thepex Story
Thepex opened on Phloen Chit Road with a single watchmaker's bench and a small collection of hand tools. The name comes from a Thai word meaning "angel" or "divine" — a small nod to the care we try to bring to every piece that crosses the workbench.
The workshop has always sat in the same spot in Lumphini, Bangkok. Over the years the tools have improved and the range of work has grown, but the day-to-day approach has stayed much the same: look carefully at each watch, explain what you find, do the work properly, and return it in better condition than it arrived.
We work on quartz pieces that need a straightforward battery service, on mechanical watches that have drifted out of regulation, and on older or family-owned watches where the job is to conserve rather than overhaul. Each category requires a different kind of patience, and we've developed a way of working through all three that feels right for us.
Bangkok is a city where people mix traditions — a vintage Omega worn alongside a modern Seiko, a grandfather's Rolex brought in alongside a department-store quartz. We see that variety on our bench every week, and it keeps the work interesting. What doesn't change is how we approach the conversation: calmly, clearly, and without pressure.

Phitak has been opening watch cases for over two decades. He leads mechanical and heritage work, with a particular interest in older Swiss movements that have found their way to Bangkok.

Quartz & Battery Specialist
Nattawin handles quartz servicing and battery changes with an efficiency that customers appreciate. He also manages incoming assessments and helps clients understand what their watch actually needs.

Assessment Before Work
Every watch receives a careful look before any work begins. We explain what we find and what we recommend — nothing proceeds without your agreement.
Quality Lubricants & Parts
We use appropriate watchmaking oils for each part of a movement and source components that meet the requirements of the original design.
Timing Verification
After servicing mechanical movements, we verify performance across multiple positions using a timing machine before the watch leaves the bench.
Secure Storage
Watches in our care are stored securely throughout the service period, tagged and tracked so we always know exactly where each piece is.
Progress Updates
On longer jobs — mechanical services and heritage restorations — we share updates along the way so you're never left wondering where things stand.
Responsible Disposal
Used batteries and chemicals are disposed of through appropriate channels. We keep the workshop tidy and follow responsible practices for waste from repair work.
Our Approach
Watch Repair as a Craft
Watchmaking is a trade that rewards patience above almost everything else. A movement that looks unremarkable under a loupe can reveal considerable complexity once the case back comes away. Conversely, a watch that seems badly damaged may need only a careful clean and fresh lubrication to run well again. Neither situation is obvious from the outside — which is why assessment matters so much.
At Thepex, we've developed our working practices around three types of watch that arrive at our bench regularly. Quartz pieces — the everyday watches that most people own — need clear, efficient servicing without unnecessary extras. Mechanical watches require a slower, more methodical approach: each component cleaned, dried, freshly oiled, and returned to its correct place. Heritage pieces demand something additional again: a respect for the original maker's choices, and a willingness to move at the pace the work demands rather than the pace a schedule prefers.
Bangkok's climate — warm and humid for much of the year — places particular demands on watch seals and lubricants. We account for this when selecting materials and setting intervals between services. A watch that runs reliably in a cooler, drier environment may need attention sooner here. It's a straightforward thing to mention, but one that many owners find useful to know.
Our workshop on Phloen Chit Road is easy to reach by BTS from most parts of the city. We welcome walk-ins for assessments and take enquiries by phone and email for those who'd prefer to discuss a watch before travelling in.
